Intonation of Wh-questions in Northern British English Spontaneous Speech

In this paper, we report the analysis of melodic behavior wh-questions from North England. The corpus contains 107 utterances issued by 19 different native informants in real communicative situations, extracted recordings street interviews published on YouTube and carried out cities York, Manchester, Sheffield Liverpool. is conducted through Melodic Analysis Speech (MAS) method (Cantero, 2002) which allows us to quantify, standardize compare configurations. results describe four intonation patterns for type question. A rising final inflection pattern (E1: 27%); a falling (E2: 58%); circumflex rising-falling (E3: 5%); high nucleus (E4: 10%). After describing quantifying each these patterns, are discussed relation those descriptions made precedent authors existing literature.
